When she struggles, he pushes her out of the train, rapes her and later kills her. The incident sends shock-waves across the State, with people being incensed. The accused is taken into custody and imprisoned. On the day of his prosecution, an angry mob gathered outside the court attack the culprit and kill him.Sounds familiar? It would, as this short film is based on the heinous murder of Soumya, who was brutally molested and killed while she was travelling in the ladies compartment last February. The one hour short film 'Lost Compartment' will release in the form of CDs on January 17. The project has been helmed by Hareesh Kottoor and Roji Mon I G, both of whom work for radio station, Red FM. The Soumya incident created a furore State-wide, and eventually lead to agitations and heated discussions. But the makers believed that something more needed to be done, so that the episode would remain etched in everyone's memory. It would underline the fact that women continue to be unsafe and exploited, and serious steps would have to be taken to prevent such horrific incidents. “We are living in a period where the abuse of woman no longer creates headlines. Though there was much uproar over the murder of Soumya, nothing constructive has come out of it. In due course, people will forget the issue. The film will hopefully create a more lasting impact,” says Roji Mon.“We are releasing the movie as 'home cinema', so people can buy the CDs and watch it at home. The concept of home cinema is getting quite popular. We want the message to reach out to as much people as possible, and home cinema is the right medium,” says Roji Mon.Navya Narayanan who is well-known to the Malayali audience by way of her various television soaps, has essayed the role of Priya. Other actors part of the cast are Karthik Prasad, Murali Nambyar, Aneesh Chayoth, Soosan, Anusree, Nasarudheen and Shera Fathima.
