Banks across most regions of the country will remain closed on April 17 to observe Ram Navami. This festival, important for adherents of the Hindu faith, falls on the ninth day of the Chaitra month, the first month in the Hindu lunar calendar.
As per RBI’s official bank holiday calendar, both public and private sector banks will be closed on Wednesday, April 17 due to Ram Navami. It’s worth noting that bank holidays vary from state to state.

On the occasion of Ram Navami, banks in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana), Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, and Shimla will remain closed.
The RBI publishes its list of bank holidays on its official website at https://www.rbi.org.in/. These holidays are categorized by the RBI into three groups: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays; and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
Due to the holidays, customers won’t be able to conduct transactions like withdrawals and deposits at bank branches. However, many banking services are usually accessible online or through mobile banking apps, even if your local branch is closed.
