CHENNAI: Post fees, parents of school students are now going to take up the issue of implementing the Uniform School Education System (USE) in the state. On Thursday, parents of students from 17 matriculation schools in the city submitted a petition to the Chief Minister’s cell, a day after Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa stated that if the aggrieved parties, including the parents and students approach her, she would intervene in the concerned matters of school fees. S Arumainathan, state president, Federation of Parents Students Welfare Association, said that while the appointment with the Chief Minister regarding their demand to implement the school fees fixed by the Justice Govindarajan Committee is awaited, the parents have planned to approach the Chief Minister to demand for the implementation of uniform school education system in the State. “We want to request the AIADMK government to reconsider their decision to withdraw the USE books. The books can be issued along with the circular stating the omissions. The parents want the Uniform School Education books, which are much above the standard of matriculation, and other board books, which existed previously. We hope that our demands are considered, and the books already printed don’t go in vain. We want to submit a petition to her stating our demands for implementing uniform school education from this year onwards, including the corrections suggested by educationists,” Arumainathan said and added that the association members plan to submit their petition by  the end of next week.
