The General Elections of 2024 in Pakistan held on February 8 marked a significant event, especially for the country’s young voters. However, the aftermath saw an unexpected twist as even after 24 hours since the polls closed, the eagerly awaited results weren’t announced. While post election days typically turn into celebrations, this time, the delayed process raised eyebrows and concerns among the population. Despite the slow result, social media platforms in Pakistan were filled with hilarious and interesting memes. The local residents took playful digs at political figures and humorously showed the ground realities of the election. On the other hand, the unconventional ballot paper designs, due to the involvement of numerous independent candidates, were compared with emojis.
Despite Nawaz Sharif’s early claim of victory without a majority, the latest updates indicate that Imran Khan’s party is currently leading the race in the 2024 General Elections in Pakistan. However, as of now, concrete results are yet to be officially announced, leaving the final outcome in suspense. Interestingly, among the people sharing hilarious reactions, the majority are Pakistani youths, who are casting their votes for the first time. These youngsters managed to insert laughter throughout the day despite some regions experiencing an internet blackout.

Returned home after the failure to cast the vote in the 2nd attempt… They say it will take another hour to open the voting… I am sure they will not give extra time after 5 pm! The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) earlier blamed the delay after mobile networks were shut down by the government during the voting process. This interference in the transmission of data has led to a long wait. Imran Khan’s party, in response to the slow progress, has raised concerns and allegedly claimed that people are tampering with the ballots to make Nawaz Sharif the winner. In the most recent update, the ECP has issued an order to all provincial election commissioners and returning officers, instructing them to announce the results of the General Election 2024 within half an hour or face strict actions.
According to reports, Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is currently leading the race in the 2024 General Elections. Following closely behind are other prominent parties, including Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Jamiat-e-Ulami-Faizal (JUI-F), and Balochistan National Party (BNP). In contrast, Nawaz Sharif has declared his intention to establish a united government, for which he’s planning to collaborate with his former allies, including the Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan).
