‘No Sick Leave On August 16’: Here’s Why Dot Media CEO’s LinkedIn Post Wins Hearts
CEO shared that he rejected all sick leave requests for August 16 as it would impact the company’s expenses, but he came up with an innovative solution.

It was an extended weekend holiday for many starting with Independence Day on Thursday, August 15. But, here’s a catch. To enjoy the long weekend holiday many employees needed to apply for a leave on Friday, August 16.

A social media post by Shubham Singhal, Co-Founder and CEO of Dot Media, on employees applying for sick leave on August 16 has caught everyone’s attention. In a LinkedIn post, Singhal shared that he turned down all sick leave requests for August 16 and explained that approving individual requests would impact the company’s expenses. Instead of denying their leaves, he came up with an innovative solution. To ensure everyone got a break, the entrepreneur decided to close the office for the day and provide everyone a “well-deserved" paid day off.

The CEO wrote, “On the occasion of World Sick Leave Day, we at Dot Media have decided to reject all sick leave requests. While we understand that taking a leave on the 16th August would make it a long weekend, it comes at a cost to the company. Instead, we’ve decided to close our office and give all our employees a well-deserved holiday. The day corporates start valuing what their employees need, nothing can stop them from putting forth their best. Because at Dot Media, our people come first and their well-being drives our innovation."

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “It’s truly great for employees and they will appreciate it. I’m glad that new age founders and management are changing the way things used to be."

Another jokingly shared, “Me reading sitting on my office desk. I am so jealous."

“Absolutely love this. It’s all about people. No company can run without its employees. They are the backbone and its gestures like these which keep them motivated and driven," a comment read.

Another wrote, “I appreciate your initiative of considering employees as humans."

“The creative looks like a political banner and I am sure you intended it to be that way," read another comment.

One more added, “Prioritising employee well-being is key to fostering a motivated and productive team. Giving your employees a break while showing you value their needs will undoubtedly drive innovation and loyalty."

Shubham Singhal’s post not only received praise from social media users for his kind gesture but also garnered over 7,000 likes on LinkedIn.
