Batting legend Rahul Dravid recently was unveiled as the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals’ head coach. Dravid joins RR after having served as the Indian cricket team head coach and guiding them to title win at the T20 World Cup trophy in June.

Dravid has signed a multi-year contract with the inaugural champions.
RR shared a video on Instagram where some players and members of the coaching staff could be seen expressing their admiration for Dravid nicked ‘The Wall’.

The clip opens with former RR fast bowling coach Lasith Malinga asking the franchise’s Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, “If you had to choose a player to bat for your life, whom would you choose?”
In the next frame, Ravichandran Ashwin was seen asking the same question to his RR teammate Jos Buttler.
It looked like an easy pick for both Sangakkara and Buttler as they quickly responded, “Rahul Dravid”.
“You know he is unbelievable in that role,” Sangakkara explained.
Buttler echoed the sentiments. “Because he is The Wall. You can’t get past that. He would bat all day,” he said.
Jake Lush McCrum, the CEO of the Royals Sports Group, was elated to have Dravid on board.
“Rahul’s exceptional coaching capabilities are evident with the transformation he’s driven in Indian cricket. He also has a deep connection to the franchise, and we’ve seen that passion come through in all our conversations,” McCrum said.
Dravid was part of the RR squad from 2011 to 2015 and eventually became their mentor.
The legendary batter has rich coaching experience.
Apart from guiding the senior team, Dravid has also served different roles in the Indian U-19 team and at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
