Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan recently stole the spotlight at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding with their epic dance moves, but things weren’t always so friendly between these two superstars. An old clip has made its rounds on social media, revealing some salty exchanges from back in the day.
The throwback takes us to the promotional frenzy surrounding Shah Rukh’s My Name Is Khan and Aamir’s 3 Idiots, which were released just two months apart. Aamir made headlines with his unconventional promotion, traveling in disguises to engage with fans across the nation. While many praised his innovative marketing strategy, Shah Rukh had a different opinion. He described it as “chhichhorapan,” meaning immaturity.
During a press conference for his film, Shah Rukh Khan had said, “Sorry to use this word, but ye ek kisam ka chhichhorapan lagta hai (This seems like childishness). I don’t think we would go to that level to promote our film. Every film has its own way of being marketed, and this film will have its own unique strategy.”
When asked about Shah Rukh Khan’s comments, Aamir Khan said in an interview with ABP that it is, in fact, Shah Rukh Khan, who often behaves childishly in his life. He had said, “Jaha tak baat hai chhichhorapan ki, toh woh (Shah Rukh Khan) jyada jaante honge iss cheez ke baare mein kyuki woh khud kaafi chhichhorapan karte hai apni zindagi mein. Woh expert hai inn sab mein (As far as childishness is concerned, he (Shah Rukh Khan) would know more about it because he does a lot of childish things in his life. He is an expert in all these matters).”
Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, two of Bollywood’s biggest stars, have had a complicated relationship over the years. They began as rivals in the late 1990s and early 2000s, often competing for the same roles and box office success. However, their dynamic has changed, and they now share a mutual respect and friendship. A sign of this shift was seen at Isha Ambani’s wedding in 2018, where they were seen enjoying each other’s company.
