New Delhi: At its event on October 6, Microsoft unveiled a host of new Windows 10 devices including a new Surface Book laptop, Surface Pro 4 tablet, Band 2,new range of Lumia smartphones, and HoloLens.
While the Lumia 950 and the larger 950 XL flagship smartphones were launched in tune with the long standing rumours, the Lumia 550 was the affordable device many had been awaiting.
The Lumia 550 is touted to be Microsoft’s most affordable 4G LTE smartphone running the latest Windows 10. It comes with a 4.7-inch HD display and under its hood is a 1.1GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor.
The affordable Windows 10 smartphone features a 5 megapixel rear camera with single LED flash combined with a 2 megapixel front snapper. Microsoft is offering 8 GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 200 GB via microSD card.
The phone is powered by a 2100mAh battery that offers 3G talk time up to 13.9 hours and standby time of up to 28 hours.
The Lumia 550 will cost $139 when it starts rolling out in select European markets in December, with additional markets to follow.
