Honor, in London, was all set for a surprise at the launch of the Honor 7X, as the company also announced the first device of their View series. The Huawei sub-brand unveiled the all-new Honor View 10, which is a phone that runs on Huawei’s own Emotion UI 8.0 that’s made for artificial intelligence enabled functions.
While we all thought that the phone will be named Honor V10, the company decided to term it as Honor View 10. The device carries a very similar design language that we have seen with the Honor 8 Pro, but the major underlying difference is the big 5.99-inch 18:9 full vision display. The starting price for the Honor View 10 is 499 Euros and we believe that it will be priced slightly lower in India, and the price that we are expecting is Rs 37,999. Also, the Indian market will be getting only the 128GB storage version that also comes with an expandable memory. This 172-gram device is made to make AI more accessible to the masses.

This is done as the View 10 runs on Huawei’s own Kirin 970 chipset that also comes with a Neural engine and is backed by 6GB RAM. The AI functions work on its dual-camera setup that has two camera lenses, one with a 20-megapixel count and the other with a 16-megapixel count. The photos that one may click from this phone work in tandem with the AI functions that this phone offers to deliver images that are very detailed. We were quite surprised ourselves when we clicked some images of this phone at the London launch. The AI also enables you to not really use the pro mode on the camera and just click images seamlessly with the auto mode on this device. Other AI driven functions that the View 10 will support will be 3D facial animation similar to the Animojis that one sees on the iPhone X, Sync Play for an orchestrated sound play with different View 10 phones, 3D Face recognition and reconstruction as well as intelligent scene recognition. This device can recognise 13 different scenes with its camera and can also identify if you are clicking your dog or your cat.
Honor plans to add more AI features to its upcoming smartphones in the year 2018 and they say that View 10 is just a start. The Honor View 10 is a dual-SIM phone that also runs on Huawei’s latest Emotion UI 8 that’s loaded on top of Google’s latest operating system, Android Oreo. This is also the reason why the Honor 7X did not come with Android Oreo out of the box. The company also plans to roll out Oreo update on the Honor 7X along with Emotion UI 8. The showcase device for this was the Honor View 10.
All in all, Honor in a way, has set the agenda for 2018 smartphones. As 2017 was a year that saw the trend of dual-camera smartphones along with full view displays, 2018 might just be the year that will all be about AI driven devices. Honor has definitely taken the first step at least in terms of Android devices that will support AI and have the processing capabilities that will be seamless for AI enthusiasts, and the Honor View 10 basically sets the stage for device manufacturers in 2018. Now we wait for January 8, 2018, when the Honor View 10 will make it to the Indian market alongside its global availability. And we really hope that the company will be able to keep the pricing south of Rs 40,000 in India.
