HC Chief Justice condemns morning mist assault

Condemning the recent Mangalore attack, Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Vikramjit Sen said it was an inhuman and brutal attack on women, and wondered why people were not raising their voice against such assaults.

Hearing a public interest litigation petition filed by one Eric Ozario from Mangalore against the Sahithya Academy for not considering Konkani writers for the award, Justice Sen said: “Though Mangalore was a place rich in culture and has many intellectuals, why was it that none of you are raising your voice against such highly inhuman behaviour? Why don’t you stop these kind of incidents? Women were beaten up brutally in the attack and you are filing this kind of petition. Why don’t you file a petition on that incident?”

The Chief Justice then directed Karnataka State Konkani Linguistic Minorities Institutions to file its objections to the main petition, and adjourned the hearing.
