For years, Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s designs have captivated us on the Met Gala’s fashion stage. However, this year marked a groundbreaking moment as the designer himself made his debut on the iconic red carpet. To note, Sabyasachi Mukherjee became the first Indian fashion designer to appear on Met Gala. Renowned for his impeccable craftsmanship and devotion to Indian culture, Sabyasachi’s presence at the Met Gala was highly anticipated. This historic event not only showcased his talent but also established him as the first Indian designer to grace the esteemed Met Gala carpet.

For the occasion, Sabyasachi opted for an incredibly stylish ensemble. He wore an embroidered cotton duster coat from his prestigious Sabyasachi Resort 2024 collection, making a bold statement with his choice. Pairing this standout piece with a crisp white shirt and impeccably tailored beige pants, he achieved a perfect balance of elegance and comfort. He accessorised it with a stunning selection of tourmaline, pearls, emeralds and diamonds from the Sabyasachi High Jewellery line. Completing his look with a matching belt, stylish sunglasses and sleek brown loafers, Sabyasachi proved his undeniable style.

As he shared snapshots of his ensemble on Instagram, fans erupted in applause for his iconic moment. One user wrote, “Love the royal look,” while another commented, “Modern Maharaja vibe, love it.”

Alia Bhatt joined the celebration of craftsmanship in a breathtaking saree crafted by Sabyasachi. The custom-made ensemble featured an extravagant train, meticulously adorned with hand-embroidered silk floss, sequins, beads and semi-precious stones, accentuated by delicate fringes of glass beads. Complementing the saree was a hand-crafted blouse embellished with emeralds, Basra pearls, tourmaline and multicoloured sapphires.

To elevate her look, Alia accessorised her outfit with pieces from the exquisite Sabyasachi High Jewellery’s Bengal Royal collection. Additionally, her hair was styled into an elegant elevated coiffure, adorned with intricately woven braids that added to the regal charm of her ensemble. In the past, several Bollywood stars like Vidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have donned Sabyasachi’s designs.
