Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran has demanded that the trial of T P Chandrasekharan murder case be carried out in a fast-track court.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Mullappally Ramachandran said the shifting of the murder case to a Fast Track Court is imperative to ensure the speedy completion of the trial of political murder cases in the state.
“Just like communal cases, trial of political killings should be held in fast-track courts so that the guilty are punished quickly. This will put an end to political murders in the state. Let Chandrasekharan murder case be the first of this kind,” he said.
On KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala’s statement that the minister’s statement regarding the CBI probe into Chandrasekharan murder case had created confusion among the people, Mullappally said, “No confusion or difference of opinion exist in the party regarding this. Ninety percent of the investigation in the Chandrasekharan murder case has been completed. Now, the police have to identify the mastermind behind the conspiracy. Ramesh Chennithala also has the same opinion.”
Meanwhile, Mullappally smells a rat in the investigation of the case pertaining to the murder of BJP worker Payyoli Manoj. “The request for narco-analysis by six men among the accused and the allegation of their relatives that the real accused in the murder are still at large clearly shows that there is something fishy in the probe. The Home Department should examine this issue seriously,” he said.
