New Delhi: Thailand's Prime Minister General Surayud Chula-nont - on a three-day visit to India - will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday.
The Thai military installed Chulanont after last September's coup.
India and Thailand seek to deepen defence and strategic ties and will agree to co-operate in the areas of renewable energy and culture.
A Memorandum of Understanding on Enhanced Cooperation in the field of renewable energy and a pact on cultural programme will also be inked during Chulanont’s visit.
But differences on a free trade agreement remain. The Thai Prime Minister is also scheduled to address a Business Summit hosted by the CII, FICCI and the ASSOCHAM on Tuesday.
Chulanont will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Nitya Pibulsonggram, Minister of Commerce Krirk-Krai Jirapaet and Energy Minister Piyasvasti Amranand.
Besides calling on President A P J Abdul Kalam, the visiting dignitaries will hold discussions on related issues with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Commerce Minister Kamal Nath, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar and Leader of Opposition L K Advani.
Chulanont will also visit Sarnath, Varanasi and Kolkata before returning home on Wednesday.
