CHENNAI: Understanding of godI am from a family that is extremely god-fearing.  Growing up in such an environment, I have complete faith in god. God judges us by what we do, our karma. I know god’s always  watching us. Relationship with godThere are no fancy prayers or bhajans involved when I pray to god. It’s always a simple, one-way, silent conversation. I do not expect anything from god and I am very thankful for whatever I have. God knows what is best for me.Religious and spiritual practicesIn school and college, I was not academically bright and hence there was a lot of bargaining to be done with god! I visited temples and kept praying. But things changed afterwards. I don’t follow any specific practices now. Take on miraclesMy first job was that of a proof reader. At that time, I visited Tirupati to attend a friend’s niece’s ear piercing ceremony. The day after the ceremony my friend and I were outside the temple trying to find a secluded area to smoke. An old man in khaki approached us and asked us to be witnesses to something. We didn’t understand him properly but agreed so we could kill time. We were then taken right into the sanctum sanctorum. We were told that we were to be pilgrim witnesses to the counting of donations. Our whole day was spent walking on top of piles of money. We got two more VVIP darshans the same day! Two weeks after this incident I got a job offer from Citibank and my career just took off from there. And yes, I quit smoking. This is the biggest miracle in my life.Favourite pilgrimage sitesTirupati is my favourite pilgrimage site. Whenever I visit Bangalore I go to the ISKCON temple.
