Islamabad: Pakistan has rejected demands made by US lawmakers that a probe into disgraced scientist A Q Khan's nuclear proliferation network be reopened, saying foreign investigators will not be allowed to question him.
The nuclear proliferation case against Khan has been closed and all information collected has been given to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the US, said Foreign Office spokesman Suhail Mehmood.
"We have completed our investigations and shared information with the International Atomic Energy Association and the US. We do not have any new information to share with the US," Mehmood said.
He also ruled out permitting foreign interrogators to directly question Khan, who is under house arrest. "However, we remain prepared for investigations on any new information that comes along the way."
Asked about testimony by American expert David Albright of Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) before the US Congress that the nuclear export control system formed by the country had not been implemented, Mehmood said "we have new legislation in place and its implementation is on track."
Albright also said that information provided by the Pakistani government to the IAEA and other governments "appears so far to be incomplete."
