KARIMNAGAR: About 14 persons belonging to Karimnagar district, who went to Saudi Arabia three years ago, are reportedly trapped in different jails in Riyadh since February, 2011.According to sources, the 14 people, who reached the capital of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on fake visas, were arrested by police when they failed to produce proper emigration documents and lodged in jails. Deceived by travel agents, the victims have been seeking help from the Indian officials.It is learnt that the Indian embassy in Riyadh sent a list of the victims to Karimnagar district police to confirm their details.The embassy, sources said, was also planning to issue emergency certificates and send the victims back to India.When contacted, the district police told this paper that they could not reveal particulars of the victims.“We frequently receive such lists asking us to find out details of the persons. But we do not know in what connection the particulars are being sought,” said a police officer, on condition of anonymity.The names in the list are: Boja Mallesh, Md Abdul Ali, Rayakam Chandraiah, Lal Mohmmad, Tekkela Raju, Mallesham, Pandipalli Ellanna, Tatichettu Rajamallu, Renikunta Arjun, Katukuri Narsaiah. Names of the remaining four persons are yet to reach the police authorities in Karimnagar district.Transport of bodies sought:Gulf Returning Members Welfare Society, a Karimnagar-based NGO, requested the Government of India to arrange for transport of the bodies of Ande Ramakrishna (48), (passport no. H980760) and Kadasu Mondaiah (33), belonging to the district.Ramakrishna, a native of Metpally, died in Riyadh jail on June 8, 2011. His body was kept at the mortuary of Semisia Hospital.Mondaiah also died in a jail in Riyadh.The NGO president Shaik Chand Pasha submitted a memorandum to the Protector General of Emigrants, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, a week ago.In the wake of such incidents, the Indian embassy in Riyadh released a list of those who had flown to Saudi Arabia from India without proper documents in the last three years.The embassy officials urged those emigrating to the Arabian country to furnish correct particulars as the information would be helpful in case of any tragedy.
