Watch: Here's How MS Dhoni Celebrated 75th Republic Day
A clip of MS Dhoni celebrating the Republic Day at his home was shared by his wife Sakshi.

Legendary captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was captured standing alongside India’s national flag on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day on Friday.

Dhoni, the only captain to win all three major white-ball ICC trophies, shares a strong connection with the country’s defence forces.

Back in 2011, the former India wicketkeeper-batter was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel with the Indian Territorial Army. He also served his regiment (106 Territorial Army Battalion) as part of the Victor Force in the Kashmir valley in August 2019.

Dhoni, who retires from international cricket in August 2020, is quite reclusive and rarely makes a public appearance or shares posts on his social media handles.

However, his followers got a glimpse of how Dhoni celebated Republic Day when his wife Sakshi shared a short clip on Instagram.

Fans thronged to the comments section of the post.

A fan declared it as “video of the day” with the comments section flooded with numerous red heart emojis.

Another user wrote, “National flag and national pride in one frame.”

Dhoni never refrains from demonstrating his patriotism.

During the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup in England, Dhoni stole the limelight for wearing the army insignia on the field.

Earlier in the same year, when Australia toured India for an ODI series, Dhoni and Co. sported special camouflage caps during the final game in Ranchi to pay their tributes to the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack.

Dhoni may have drawn curtains on his international career but he continues to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He captains Chennai Super Kings in IPL and last year, led them to a record-equaling fifth title triumph.

Dhoni carried a knee injury throughout the 2023 campaign but played in all CSK matches.

After CSK became the champions, Dhoni confirmed his participation in the 2024 IPL, saying it would be “a gift” for the fans who have always backed him.
