Sensex tumbled by 267 points on heavy selling by funds despite excellent Q1 results by Satyam.
Mumbai: Tracking a weak global trend the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark, Sensex, on Friday tumbled by 267 points on heavy selling by funds despite better than expectations quarterly results announced by information technology major Satyam Computers.
The 30-share sensitive index dropped by 267.03 points at 10,085.51 points after touching day's low of 10,035.34 points.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty ended lower by 78.05 points at 2,945 points. Earlier in the day it witnessed a low of 2,930.15 points.
IT major Satyam Computers today announced its Q1 results, reporting a nearly 75 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 354 crore against last fiscal's Q1 net profit of Rs 260.5 crore.
