Bangalore: Leading Indian software firms such as Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys Technologies are in the race for a $125 million outsourcing contract from Dutch ING Group, the Economic Times reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.
The newspaper said others eyeing the three-year contract included European technology services firms like Capgemini, Logica CMG and Atos Origin as also India's Satyam Computer Services Ltd.
A spokeswoman for Infosys and a spokesman for Hyderabad-based Satyam refused comment on the report, while officials at Tata Consultancy were not immediately available.
Indian software services firms provide solutions like system integration, application development, and supply chain designing and back-office services to western firms like ABN AMRO, Nortel and Airbus.
India's large pool of English-speaking engineering workforce and wages well below western salaries have helped to attract outsourcing from overseas companies seeking to cut costs.
