Alakh Pandey, Founder and CEO of Physics Wallah (PW), was recently invited to Harvard University, Stanford University and the University of California as a speaker. Pandey shared a series of photos on Instagram, posing with professors and students there. In the viral post, Physics Wallah urged Indian students there to come back to the country. His post has resonated well with online users and has grabbed significant attention.
“Jai Hind. I was invited to Harvard University, Stanford University & University Of California, as a speaker. There I motivated the Indian students to directly and indirectly contribute to India by returning back to the country or even while staying there,” he wrote in the caption in Hindi.
Pandey asked the youths to contribute towards the development, in whatever way it is possible. “Yes, there are many shortcomings in our country, but no country is perfect. But it is necessary for the youth of the country to make it better,” he further mentioned.

As soon as the post was shared, social media users flocked to the comments section to express their views. “Should we bow? Yes, he is the real king,” a user wrote. Another commented, “Inspiration.” A user remarked, “Alakh sir respect button.” Another said, “All the Indian youth who are studying abroad please return to India if it is possible for you. And contribute in making your country strong. Return like this, the way Gandhi returned, the way Ambedkar returned,the way JRD Tata returned.”

The company was founded in 2016 as a YouTube channel aimed at teaching the physics curriculum for the JEE. The channel grew rapidly, reaching over 2 million followers in 2019. In 2020, Pandey along with co-founder Prateek Maheshwari developed the Physics Wallah mobile application.
Meanwhile, in November 2023, edtech unicorn Physics Wallah fired as many as 120 employees after a performance review. These were the first layoffs at the company that achieved a unicorn tag in 2022. “At PW, we regularly assess performance through mid-term and end-term cycles. For the cycle ending in October, less than 0.8 per cent of our workforce, ranging from 70 to 120 individuals with performance concerns—may be asked to transition…” said Satish Khengre, CHRO, Physics Wallah, in a statement.
