Man Criticises Indian Railways For 'Poorly-built' Water Bottle Holders in Viral Post
Man's viral post on how recently installed water bottle holders on Indian trains are 'non-functional'.

Indian Railways continues to grab headlines for all the wrong reasons. The myriad issues faced by passengers, from substandard food to overcrowded coaches due to ticketless travellers, prompt them to express their grievances on social media, drawing attention to these concerns. In a recent instance, a user, @Enraged_Indian, shed light on the inadequacy of the recently installed water bottle holders on trains.

The user shared a photo of the plastic bottle holder, requiring passengers to attach their bottles using the caps, replacing the traditional steel holders. Highlighting the impracticality of the design, he remarked, “Do you know @AshwiniVaishnaw that the water bottles (including those provided by Indian Railways to passengers in certain premium trains) do not fit into the bottle holders installed by the Indian Railway?”

The man also criticised the service, sharing a picture of the superior steel bottle holders, stating, “This was a much better option to hold the bottle in a moving train. Imagine, water bottle of the passenger on the upper birth down there. Every time he needs water during night he has to come down.”

The post quickly gained traction, with many echoing the sentiment. One user criticised the design flaw, saying, “Yes it’s a problem. And you cannot keep the bottle on the table as the trains are very jerky, the bottle falls off. This is a problem in all the new coaches. Simply untested unthought bad design by @RailwaySeva.” Another user added, “In Chinese HSR, you can place a glass of water on the table provided, and at 350kmph, not a jerk… no spill whatsoever…” A third user expressed concern, stating, “especially concerning if it doesnt fit the Rail Neer bottles.”

Simultaneously, people raised issues about the plastic tray/table being immovable compared to the previously sturdy wooden plank and the conveniently foldable steel support that is slowly being phased out, occupying unnecessary space and leaving no legroom for passengers seated by the window.
