This Tech Company Says It Will Never Bring AI Features Into Its Products: Why It Matters
The company named Procreate makes illustration app for iPads that is popular among the creative users who will like its stance on AI.

Every major tech company is busy integrating artificial intelligence (AI) features into their products. Google, OpenAI, Microsoft and Adobe are some of the popular names, which even includes Apple now. But one company has decided that it won’t be part of the Generative AI race now or in the future. We are talking about Procreate which makes creative apps for iPad in the market that rival Adobe and Canva software.

The update has come directly from the company’s CEO this week, who said, “We’re not going to be introducing any generative AI into our products,” which will come as a big surprise and relief to the creative audience the brand caters to.

This is a big shift in opinion about AI from a company which might lose out on its rivals by not adopting AI but could garner more consumers with its fresh approach on the technology. AI has become the talk of the town and the industry.

GenAI – The Good And The Ugly

People will feel that AI can simplify life and work for them in many ways. But the creative group feels that AI is offering content without their consent or taking away the possible job prospects for the community as a whole.

Procreate offering a different take on the use of AI, or lack of it will not only preserve the workforce but also keep their data/work private. “We think machine learning is a compelling technology with a lot of merit, but the path GenAI is on is wrong for us,” the company has said in a new web page talking about its stance on AI.

The platform also assures that its customer’s data will remain private, they will not access their work or designs, and keeping GenAI away means their livelihood remains in safe hands.

While it is encouraging to hear Procreate not get excited about AI and take a practical view on the technology, saying that it will never use AI seems like a tough claim which could become an issue at a later date, especially if the company backtracks on the promise it is making to the consumers in 2024.
