iMessage App For Android Users Will Be Shut Down Soon: Here’s The Full Story
Beeper Mini made it possible for iMessage to work on Android but now that dream could prematurely end thanks to Apple.

Android users finally got a chance to use iMessage thanks to Beeper Mini which was able to mimic Apple’s security and privacy standards. The app made the headlines over the past few weeks but it seems that joy is likely to be short lived.

The developers of Beeper Mini claim they have worked on the iMessage code from scratch that allowed them to give iMessage-like service on Android but what many people did not know is that it was still using the iMessage server.

Apple was able to block Beeper Mini’s access to iMessage service, which was resolved multiple times but now, even the team at Beeper Mini have decided that if Apple decides to pull the plug on its app once again, that will be the end of the service and the dream of using iMessage on Android.

To be honest, it was always going to be a tough fight with one of the biggest companies in the world, and Beeper Mini recognises the reality of getting into the David vs Goliath bracket. “As much as we want to fight for what we believe is a fantastic product that really should exist, the truth is that we can’t win a cat-and-mouse game with the largest company on earth,” the company mentioned in its post this week.

Beeper Mini was charging a fee to run the service, which might have irked the team at Apple running the messaging app. After all, Beeper Mini was using iMessage’s network to push its content, suggesting to the server that the message is being sent through an iOS device.

All said and done, Beeper Mini seems to have lasted its course, and once Apple decides to shut down the server once again, which will inevitably happen in the coming days, the focus will switch back to using third-party messaging apps instead of getting iMessage to work on Android, giving Apple another win in the market.
