Google Wants To Keep Your Phone’s Data Secure When You Lose It: Here’s How
Google is trying its best to secure your device and making sure that even if you lose it, our data will be fine.

Android users have a tough time with their data when they lose their phone or it gets stolen. But Google is finally making some changes that will keep the data secure, whether the phone is with you or someone steals it. In fact, the company seems to be coming out with not two but three features which look to build on its anti-theft platform.

Google announced the new Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device lock in May this year and gradually Android phones will be getting these tools. Here’s a closer look at these new anti-theft features and how Google plans to use them to keep your data secure from thieves.

Google’s AI Power To Protect Your Data

Google is using the power of AI with the theft detection look and use the sensors on your phones to determine when it is stolen and used by someone else. The company lets the AI tech read your motions and match it when someone starts running with the phone or in motion. Once Google smells something is fishy, the phone will auto-lock and block access to your apps and data.

Securing Your Device When Offline

That’s the second big security feature and also one of the important ones from Google. The offline device lock activates when the person does their best to keep your phone disconnected for a longer period.

Lock It From Anywhere

Remote lock is another useful feature that works just by using your phone number, especially if the Find My Device of the stolen phone is turned off. Using the number you can log into the Google account (thanks to 2FA) and make sure to lock the device even if it is lying far away.

Android 15 is expected to roll out for the Pixel devices starting Pixel 6 series around October 15 as per reports. Vivo has already released the Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 version, while Samsung’s update is not expected before early 2025 when the new Galaxy S25 series launch happens.
