Adventurer Lexie Alford, known as Lexie Limitless, has once again grabbed headlines with her latest achievement. While she already holds the world record for being the youngest person to visit every country by the age of 21, Lexie has now carved her name in history as the first individual to travel around the globe in an electric vehicle (EV). Using the new Electric Ford Explorer, she travelled across six continents, 27 countries and covered over 30,000 km. Throughout her journey, Lexie came across numerous challenges, including power outages, limited charging sources, rugged terrains and harsh weather conditions. But, Lexie conquered every obstacle with ease. Interestingly, the vehicle used by Lexie for this groundbreaking adventure was a pre-production model, which is now available for adventurous souls.
Sharing her achievement on Instagram, Lexie wrote, “30,000+ kilometers. 200 days. 27 countries. 6 continents. 1 NEW WORLD RECORD. I want to express all my gratitude to all of you who supported this journey every step of the way. It’s been an honour and a privilege to have worked with so many brilliant people on this expedition over the last 18 months. Through all the highs and lows, pushing the limits of what is possible to do in an EV has left me with countless memories I’ll cherish for a lifetime. Crossing the finish line on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France was an absolutely surreal experience. I can now officially announce we have achieved the FIRST GLOBAL CIRCUMNAVIGATION BY ELECTRIC VEHICLE.”

According to Ford, during her journey, Lexie Alford relied on some cool features like the MegaConsole cabin storage, which can easily fit three 1.5 liter drink bottles and still have space left. Plus, she enjoyed a cozy heated and massaging driver’s seat and used the voice activated SYNC Move infotainment system with a touchscreen that is adjustable. These features come standard in both the Ford Explorer and Ford Explorer Premium models.
The electric vehicle is Ford’s first passenger EV developed and built in Europe, blending German engineering with American style and top notch features. Charging the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent only takes about 26 minutes and the Explorer has the capability to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.
