Apple’s self-service repair program is now available in 24 more countries, including Croatia, Denmark, Greece, and Switzerland. Additionally, the program is expanding to include the latest iPhone 15 lineup and the M2-powered Macs, such as the 15-inch MacBook Air, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio. Cumulatively, this means that Apple’s self-service repair is now available in 33 countries, supports 35 products, and is accessible in 24 languages.
For those who are not familiar, Apple’s Self-Service Repair program was launched in April 2022. It allows individuals with relevant experience in repairing electronic devices to access Apple repair manuals, genuine Apple parts, and the tools needed to repair Apple products. These tools are the same as those used by Apple Authorized Service Providers and Apple Stores.
This initiative is Apple’s way of giving users more control over how they use and maintain their devices—eliminating the need to compulsorily visit an Apple-branded service repair store.
In addition to expanding to more countries and including more devices, the program is also incorporating Apple Diagnostics for the self-repair program. This will enable people to diagnose and troubleshoot Apple devices for optimal functionality—identifying which part of a device may need repair or replacement.
That said, it is not recommended for users to do their own repairs if they lack experience in repairing electronics. In this case, Apple notes, “visiting a professional Apple Authorized Service Provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts—designed and tested to internationally recognized standards—is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair."
