Prabhas starrer Salaar has become the biggest blockbuster of the year. As reported by Sacnilk, early estimates suggest that the film earned Rs 95 crore in India on its opening day across all languages.
Salaar earned the most in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions where it collected Rs 70 crore. The film had an overall occupancy of 88.93% in Telugu areas. It also performed well in Karnataka and Kerala where it recorded an opening day box office of Rs 12 crore and Rs 5 crore respectively.
With this, Prabhas has beaten Shah Rukh Khan Pathaan, Jawan and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal to become the biggest opener of 2023. While Pathaan had earned Rs 57 crore on its first day in India, Jawan and Animal had reported an opening of Rs 75 crore and Rs 63 crore respectively.
Hombale Films’ Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire stars Prabhas along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. Made under the direction of Prashanth Neel, the film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur. Salaar has a duration of 2 hours and 55 minutes and was given an ‘A’ certificate by the censor board. The movie has several bloody combat scenes, violence, and battle scenes.
The film received mixed reviews from all. News18 Showsha’s review of Salaar reads, “The problem with a film like Salaar is that it focuses too much on the aesthetics and neglects the storyline. The film veers erratically back and forth between the past and present. I got a little lost in the movie way too soon because of the disorganized writing, characters that were introduced faster than a meteoroid colliding with Earth, and a plot that only really started up after the intermission.”
“Overall, Salaar is only for Prabhas fans and for those who feel an assault on the senses is a form of cinema. But if you love your eardrums and have had your fill of the super-heroic exploits of an underdog-turned-top dog hero, you can give this film a probable miss,” it added.
