Ram Gopal Varma Zeroes In On This Malayalam Model For His Next Titled Saree

Ram Gopal Varma, once hailed as one of Hindi cinema’s visionary directors, has faced setbacks in recent years, with his films receiving lukewarm responses. Undeterred, RGV is venturing into new projects, and his latest addition is the film titled Saaree, where he assumes the role of a producer. Introducing Malayalam model Sreelakshmi Satheesh as the lead, RGV aims to revitalize his cinematic presence. The director Sarath Vaishnavam will helm the movie, and the poster was unveiled on World Saree Day (December 21). Saree is set to be released in five languages.

Sreelakshmi Satheesh, making her debut in the film, gained recognition through her association with Ram Gopal Varma. Reportedly, RGV was impressed after coming across one of her photoshoots, leading to her inclusion in the film. The filmmaker showcased his appreciation by featuring Sreelakshmi’s photograph on the wall of his office, a detail shared by photographer Aghosh D Prasad on Instagram.

In an interview with Onmanorama, Sreelakshmi shared her experience of being cast in RGV’s film. She admitted not initially recognising Ram Gopal Varma, even though she had seen Rangeela. It was her photographer, Aghosh Prasad, who alerted her to RGV’s attempts to contact her. Overwhelmed by the positive response and recognition from a talented filmmaker, Sreelakshmi expressed her joy at being noticed for her work.

The plot details of Saree are yet to be revealed, keeping fans eagerly awaiting more information.

Currently, RGV’s film Vyooham has faced rejection from the Hyderabad Board of Film Certification. His other ventures, Dangerous and Ladki: Enter The Girl Dragon, have struggled at the box office. Film critics attribute these challenges to RGV’s purported failure to stay updated with industry trends and enhance the overall quality of his recent films.

Despite the hurdles, Saree marks a new project for Ram Gopal Varma, showcasing his resilience in the ever-evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
