Will quit as Uttarakhand Chief Minister if I lose majority: Harish Rawat
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister also warned of action against the rebel Congress leaders if they don't accept their mistakes.

Embattling a political crisis in state, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Saturday said he would resign if he loses majority on the floor of the House.

Dismissing claims that the Congress government in Uttarakhand was in minority, Rawat said he was ready to prove majority. The Uttarakhand Chief Minister also warned of action against the rebel Congress leaders if they don't accept their mistakes.

This comes even as 28 Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs, along with 10 Congress rebels, arrived in the national capital to meet the BJP top brass, including party president Amit Shah.

The 10 Congress rebels include former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna, Harak Singh Rawat, Pradeep Batra, Shailendra Singhal, Umesh Chandra Kau, Subodh Uniyal, Shaila Rani Rawat, Amrita Rawat and Kunwar Pranav.

A three-member BJP delegation comprising former chief minister and MP Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, BJP in-charge of Uttarakhand Shyam Jaju and general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya met Governor KK Paul on Friday and said the Harish Rawat government was in a minority and sought its dismissal.

BJP MLA Ajay Bhatt, the Leader of Opposition in the Uttarakhand Assembly, was also a part of the delegation. The Governor told them that action would be taken after gathering sufficient details.

According to the sources, the BJP staked claim to form the government with the support of the rebel Congress MLAs.
