Telangana: Cong MLA begins indefinite fast

Nalgonda: Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy began an indefinite fast at Nalgonda on Tuesday in support of the separate Telangana demand. Demanding that the Centre announce a separate Telangana without delay, he said the fast is aimed at achieving the long-cherished dream of people of the region.

He hit out at Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and state ministers and MLAs from Telangana region for "not fully supporting" the separate statehood agitation.

Congress Lok Sabha members from Telangana region Manda Jagannatham, Ponnam Prabhakar, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Congress Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao expressed solidarity with Komatireddy Venkata Reddy.

Ponnam Prabhakar asked the Telangana public representatives to stay away from the 'Rachabanda' (village junction) mass-contact programme being taken up by the state government.

MLAs Jupally Krishna Rao, and T Rajaiah, who had quit Congress and joined TRS few days ago, and leaders of pro-Telangana employees of Andhra Pradesh government also expressed solidarity with Venkata Reddy.
