New Delhi: PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti has gone one step further from demanding self rule in Kashmir. She now says that she wants such an atmosphere across the Line of Control so that the political parties can open units in both the Kashmirs - Indian Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
"For restoration of our rights, PDP is advocating self rule wherein we will have an elected Governor. We want such rights with the people where they can make and break governments in the state," PTI quoted her as saying.
According to the report in PTI, Mufti said that this would encourage trade and tourism on both sides. However, she added that her party would not compromise on the dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing party workers in Khuiyal-Lolab in the frontier district of Kupwara on Monday, she suggested exchange of legislators between the two parts of Kashmir.
"There must be an opportunity for legislators of the two assemblies to meet each other once in a year to put forth their viewpoint as problems of people across the Line of Control are similar," PTI quoted her as saying.
There was also a need to intensify the traffic on the road links already opened between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir so that common people could move easily besides members of divided families, she added.
