Patna: With a firm coalition in place, the Janata Dal United-Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress partnership on Saturday announced their seat sharing plan for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
While both RJD and JDU will fight on 101 seats each, Congress will be fighting on 41 seats. The seats were announced by JDU Bihar chief Bashistha Narain Singh in a press conference at Patna. He was flanked by RJD and Congress leaders.
Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday skipped the rally in West Champaran addressed by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he kickstarted the Congress campaign for the upcoming elections in Bihar. He accused the Modi government of not fulfilling any of his promises.
Citing the different promises like giving employment and bringing back black money, Rahul also used the word "feku" for the Prime Minister, claiming none of the promises were fulfilled.
Projecting the grand secular alliance as "pro-poor and pro-farmer", the Congress Vice President said if the alliance formed the government the voice of the weak and poor will be heard and youth will be given Rs 4 lakh loan for education.
In the last Assembly elections in 2010, the JDU had contested 141 seats in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party which had fought on 102. But Nitish broke the alliance with BJP in June 2013 over the projection of Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
