BJP failed to draw crowds to Modi rally in Himachal: Congress
"There was nothing new in Modi's speech except blaming Congress for corruption in the country," said a Congress leader.

Shimla: Congress's Himachal Pradesh unit claimed that BJP, despite spending crores of rupees, had failed to draw a huge crowd to the rally addressed by its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Sujanpur on Sunday.

"BJP leaders had claimed that over 2 lakh people would attend the rally at Sujanpur, but the number of people that had gathered there was far less than what was claimed," Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Naresh Chauhan said.

He also said "there was nothing new in Modi's speech except blaming Congress for corruption in the country".

Chauhan said Modi wasn't new to the people of Himachal as he had been the in-charge of state BJP and unsuccessfully lead the assembly elections campaign in 2003 and 2012. "The people of the state had ousted the BJP from power despite rigorous campaign by Modi and there would be no impact on the voters of the state after his rally," he said.

He said Modi was making tall claims about eradicating corruption in the country but he didn't utter a single word about the rampant corruption during the regime of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.

"Dhumal, his family and other BJP leaders had looted the resources of the state, but Modi maintained silence on all these issues," he said.
