Delhi: Water Supply to Be Affected in Several Areas on January 18 & 19

Various areas in Delhi will experience disruptions in the water supply on January 18 and January 19 due to the installation of a flowmeter and some maintenance work at the Sonia Vihar Water Treatment Plant, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) informed on Tuesday.

“Due to the installation of a flowmeter in the South Delhi rising main at Sonia Vihar WTP and other maintenance works, the water supply in the South Delhi main from Sonia Vihar Water Treatment Plant shall remain affected for 16 hours. The water supply will not be available on January 18 from 10 am to the morning of January 19,” read the notice.

AFFECTED AREAS

Kailash Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan, Jal Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand Hospital, Greater Kailash, Vasant Kunj, Devli, Ambedkar Nagar, Okhla, Kalkaji and Govindpuri are the areas in the city which will be affected.

Other areas where water supply will be affected for 16 hours from January 18 are Shyam Nagar Colony, Okhla Sabzi mandi, Amar Colony, Dakshin Puri, Panchsheel Park, Shahpur Jat, Kotla Mubarakpur, Sarita Vihar, Sidhartha Nagar, Apollo, Malviya Nagar, Chhatarpur and parts of the NDMC area.

The Board has advised residents to store sufficient water, and tanker services will also be available on request.

To request water tanker services from the board, Delhi residents can dial the following water emergency helplines: central control room (011-23538495), Greater Kailash (011-29234746), Vasant Kunj (011-26137216), Jal Sadan (011-29819035) and RK Puram (011-26193218).

Apart from the water supply, the Board has issued an advisory in selected areas regarding the annual flushing and cleaning of underground reservoirs and booster pumping stations on January 17 and 18.

January 17

The areas include Jangpura, Lajpat Nagar, Bhogal, Rohini sectors 11 and 20-25, Vasant Kunj D-2, Vinay Marg, Akbar Road, Sarojini Nagar, Chanakyapuri, Shanti Path, and Sujan Singh Park.

January 18

Kilokari, Sidharth Extension, and adjoining areas, Badarpur, and parts of Okhla.
