Inside Out 2 Gets OTT Release Date, To Premiere On September 25
The sequel to 2015's Inside Out follows a teenage Riley and her newfound emotions of anxiety, embarrassment, envy and ennui.

Inside Out 2 created a rage upon its release earlier this year. The audience and critics both hailed it as one of the best animated films. Post its theatrical release, fans have been eagerly waiting for the film to release on OTT. Much to their delight, the wait is finally over as Inside Out 2 is all set for its OTT premiere on September 25. Pixar announced the same on their social media handle, along with a poster of the film.

The film will release on Disney Plus, and along with sharing a captivating poster on Instagram, Pixar wrote, “Contain your emotions, because #InsideOut2 is coming to @DisneyPlus September 25!”

Fans have been quite excited since the announcement was made. “Ready to feel all the feels,” said one while another stated, “Counting down the days.” Another fan also noted, “Thank you so much Pixar! I’ll finally be able to see this movie for the first time.”

The sequel to 2015’s Inside Out follows a teenage Riley and her newfound emotions of anxiety, embarrassment, envy and ennui. Her initial five emotions of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, also resurface in the film. Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann and picks up where the first film left off. The story begins with Riley, now a teenager, set to attend ice skating camp, only to face a variety of problems while navigating high school life and making new friends. The makers have tried to weave in fantastic adventures with a sympathetic and mature coming-of-age story.

As per a Variety report, the film had the second-highest opening weekend of 2024, with $155 million domestically and $140 million internationally. The animated film surpassed the $1 billion mark and now has a worldwide gross of $1.5 billion.

LeFauve and Dave Holstein wrote the screenplay for Inside Out 2. Speaking about the making of the sequel, Dave Holstein has stated, “The first film gave everyone a visual language to talk about their feelings. I thought, ‘If I can do that for teenagers’ — which was probably the hardest time in my life — ‘and if I can make that time a little better, then I’d love to.” Dan Scanlon, Jonas Rivera and Pete Doctor worked as executive producers. Kim Collins and Magdiela Hermida Duhamel worked as associate producers while Mark Nielsen produced the film.
