Imran Khan has been vocal about his mental health battle and his decision to quit Bollywood in 2015. Last year, the actor opened up about his bout with depression and gave fans an insight into his life. Imran comes from a family of stalwarts including uncles Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan. Why did Imran not confide in Aamir about his career struggles? Imran recently said on the We Are Yuvaa podcast that while Imran has a deep love for Aamir, they didn’t spend too much time together as the senior actor was mostly busy.
Imran said, “For the closeness and the consideration that I have for Aamir, he’s a very busy guy. So, we would meet infrequently, he would be eyeball-deep in three films. So, the conversations wouldn’t quite have the chance to get there. Life is such. It was ultimately my mom who was able to help me…”
Imran Khan said, “Aamir has this great sense of conviction and fearlessness. When he believes that a thing is truthful, nothing will get him to back down from that. He has no fear, in that sense. He has a great, great sense of conviction, which I’ve always admired and appreciated, and I’ve always tried to emulate that.” He said, “I’ve worked with him up close and personal. It’s staggering. Everyone else will collapse and fall down from absolute exhaustion, and he keeps going and going and going.”
Imran added, “I’ve worked double shifts with him, where he has shot through the day and I’ve shot through the day, and then we’ve shot through the night for various promotional things. And I’m dead, exhausted, done. But he’s (fine), and he’s back off to set. It’s terrifying to watch him work.”
It was in September 2023 that Imran Khan first opened up about dealing with depression when he also admitted that he had attempted self-harm. “We all have scars, old wounds that still ache. But love heals. Love is empowering and uplifting, and if you are fortunate enough to receive the kind of love that I have, I think it starts to fill in those scars. It covers you in a layer of protective armor. You may never fully grasp the extent to which your love empowers me, but know that I am grateful,” he had written.
Imran Khan is known for movies like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, I Hate Luv Storys and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu among others. He was last seen in the 2015 movie Katti Batti.
