Erica Fernandes On Flood-Hit Dubai: ‘This Wasn’t Just Any Rain’
"This wasn’t just any rain, it was natural, not from cloud seeding," Erica Fernandes mentioned.

Dubai’s highly advanced infrastructure faced significant strain from a record-breaking rainstorm that swept through the region earlier this week. Over April 15, April 16, and April 17, heavy rainfall inundated the city, surpassing the UAE’s annual rainfall average within just a few days. The storm’s impact was felt across the city, causing major highways to flood and disrupting flight schedules. Homes were also affected, leaving residents grappling with the challenges posed by the deluge. Among those affected was TV actress Erica Fernandes, who had relocated to Dubai. In her latest social media post, she shared her horrifying experience with the storm.

Erica Fernandes shared a video documenting her experience during the Dubai floods from inside her home. The actress meticulously captured the evolving weather conditions as they turned increasingly harsh. Initially seen enjoying the rain with her family on the balcony, they soon found themselves scrambling to protect their belongings as the downpour intensified. With window panes leaking and thunderstorms looming, the situation grew daunting. She mentioned, “It started as a fun way to spend time during occasional showers, but it turned into quite an adventure. This wasn’t just any rain, it was natural, not from cloud seeding, and it affected much of the UAE.”

Furthermore, narrating what transpired in Dubai in the last few days, she said the rain began around 12:45 am on April 16, with a calm breeze, followed by lightning. As the hours passed, the downpour became more intense. However, this was just the initial phase. She added, “A few hours later, dark clouds blanketed the city, turning day into night in minutes. This was the strongest round yet. The winds were fierce, tossing objects around like toys. We hurried to secure things on the balcony, watching as furniture and other items flying away from others balconies. Suddenly, visibility dropped to zero.” Erica stated that despite loving the rain, they began to worry as the fourth round of rain started that evening. They hurried to clean up and control the water that had leaked into our home.

Lastly, she mentioned, “We’re grateful for everyone’s concern about our well being. Thankfully, we’re all safe. As Dubai and the UAE recover, let’s also remember those who lost their lives during the floods.”

Erica has been part of various shows including Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. Since shifting base to Dubai, she has worked on several web shows. The actress recently appeared in the web series Love Adhura, alongside Karan Kundrra.
