In the presence of director Tammareddy Bharadwaja, popular director Boyapati Srinivas, federation presidents Vallabhaneni Anilkumar, general secretary PSN Dora, and treasurer Suresh, the swearing-in ceremony for the new working committee of the Telugu Motion Pictures TV Web Series and Digital Drivers Union took place. It was emphasised that all elected officials would carry out their responsibilities with utmost loyalty.

On the occasion, Boyapati Srinu took the opportunity to confirm the sequel to the huge blockbuster Akhanda starring Nandamuri Balakrishna which was released in 2021. Akhanda became a huge milestone in the careers of both the director and the actor. Akhanda was released when theatres and the film industry were still reeling from the pandemic and still, the movie managed to gain footfall and do well.

During the media interaction, Boyapati Srinu revealed that the plot and theme of the sequel will be similar in tone and approach to the original. Just like the original, Akhanda 2 will have a primary theme of societal development. He said that Akhanda revolved around a kid, nature and God and that the sequel will have the same themes as well. Boyapati Srinu added that the production of Akhanda 2 would start after the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections across the country is over.

Nandamuri Balakrishna is contesting in the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections which are due for mid-May, where he is seeking a re-election as an MLA from Hindupur. Hence, it remains unlikely that Akhanda 2 will start filming immediately after the Lok Sabha elections.
