Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Team Up For Netflix's Crime Thriller RIP
Childhood friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will collaborate for another project titled RIP for Netflix.

Close friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to collaborate yet again on Netflix’s upcoming thriller feature titled RIP. The film will be directed by Joe Carnahan and backed by Damon and Affleck’s production company, Artists Equity. The two will co-star in RIP; however, details about their characters in the film’s plot have not been revealed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the makers tried pitching it to various agencies a month ago before Netflix finally acquired the rights. RIP is said to go on floors in autumn this year.

Artist Equity is known for helming some major projects like Cillian Murphy’s Small Things Like These, Jennifer Lopez’s Unstoppable and Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s friendship spans over three decades. They first met as kids when they lived as neighbours in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Having a mutual interest in acting and baseball, they became friends and even started working together as actors. After remaining best buddies for years, they collaborated for the first time in the 1992 film School Ties as Chesty Smith and Charlie Dillon.

In the following years, the two stars won Oscars for their screenplay work on Good Will Hunting, co-starred in Amazon’s Air Jordan film, Air, and other flicks including Dogma and The Last Duel.

Speaking to People during an event, the actors reflected on their early struggles and the kind of time that they had with each other.

“Those times were fun! We had a great time! We were young, and we didn’t have the kinds of fears that you have when you get into your forties if you haven’t gotten to where you want to go. We were in our twenties, and we just had a blast!” Affleck said, while Damon added that having a company together is “part of the whole thing.”

Affleck and Damon’s Latest Projects

On the other hand, Damon was last seen in Christopher Nolan’s award-winning film Oppenheimer and Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls.

He also has The Instigators, alongside Affleck’s brother Casey, in the pipeline.
