Monsoon in Mumbai is no doubt challenging for daily commuters. Many roads in the coastal city get waterlogged due to heavy showers in the months of July and August. An Australian woman recently went through a similar hustle during her trip to Mumbai. She shared her experience on Instagram and thanked an Uber driver for helping her catch the return flight. The tourist named Bree Steele revealed that she booked a cab to reach the Mumbai airport at 3 AM. When she came out, Steele found that the roads were flooded with rainwater. She doubted that she might miss the flight but her Uber driver didn’t let that happen.
The person seamlessly drove the cab through the flooded streets. His fearless attitude prompted Bree Steele to call Indians the “toughest people” in the world. “Indian people are the toughest and chillest on the planet??!! We drove through flood waters like it was no big deal!!! It was scary,” the Australian tourist wrote on Instagram.
The video captured some glimpses of her journey to the airport. Steele was evidently scared when she saw a huge amount of water flowing down the roads. The Uber driver, however, seemed unfazed about the situation and went on to drive through the rainwater, leaving Steele shocked.
“The whole journey could have only happened in India. The whole way through the water was above the wheels and people were waiting at every major flooding point. It was 3 AM but there were people to guide the cars and the rich shores. When I got to the airport, I was soaked but everyone was just chill, no bother. And yeah, I have left Mumbai. I’ll be back,” Bree Steele could be heard saying in the clip.
The Instagram reel has accumulated more than 2 lakh views since being dropped on the platform. The post has garnered many reactions from social media buffs. One of them hilariously said, “Titanic could have been saved if the captain was from Mumbai.”
A viewer reckons this video can be seen as “a trailer of India isn’t for beginners”. “It’s just another monsoon drive for us,” admitted a Mumbaikar. “India is the only place where people fight with water and win,” quipped a user.
