Alia Bhatt revealed that she and Ranbir Kapoor had a ‘rivalry’ after Raha was born as she wanted the baby girl to say ‘mama’ first while he wanted her to say ‘papa’. Alia said that Raha first said ‘mama’ when they were alone and so the actress urged her daughter to repeat the words on camera.
Alia shared with Allure, “The backstory is — there was a fight at home (about) Whether she is going to say mama first or whether she is going to say papa first. So, of course, mama was like (say), ‘mama, mama, mama,’ and papa was like (say), ‘papa, papa, papa.’ And when she said that, it was just me and her, I immediately pulled out my phone and said, ‘say it say it again, what did you just say…’”.
She added, “We take great joy and pride in that moment. So, I remember that moment very clearly and I have it on video. So anybody who needs proof, she said ‘mama’ first.” Alia Bhatt spoke about the most precious moments in her life and counted this as one. Another was when she first felt Raha’s kick during pregnancy.
Alia also recalled the moment when Raha was born and said, “I won’t forget the moment when we first heard her sound. It was unreal. When I heard her voice, I felt like I had met God or something. It was so emotional, sort of surreal. The minute she was put on to me, I just felt an immediate dam of love sort of burst open in our life and it just felt safe and it felt like my purpose had been met. (I’ll) never ever forget that day.”
Alia and Ranbir welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor in November 2022. The actress also mentioned how she is learning to balance motherhood with work. On the work front, Alia will soon be seen in Jigra with Vedang Raina. She will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir and Vicky Kaushal.
