New Delhi: The guessing game on whether French President Nicholas Sarkozy will be accompanied by former supermodel and girlfriend Carla Bruni on a state visit to India continued with neither side saying if she is going to make it.
Though only three days are left for Sarkozy's arrival here, officials said her name is not on the delegation list but it does not mean that she will not be coming to India.
Sources point out that when the then President Jacques Chirac used to travel abroad, the name of his wife would usually be added in the delegation at the last moment.
Sarkozy, who arrives here on Friday for a two day-visit, will be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations here. The possibility of Bruni accompanying Sarkozy is there, the sources said.
He has a 'private engagement' after the Republic Day celebrations and before the 'At Home' reception by President Pratibha Patil on the same evening.
It is believed that the time will be utilised by the French President for a visit to the Taj Mahal at Agra, the 17th Century while marble monument of love. Bruni had accompanied Sarkozy on his visits to Egypt.
If Bruni is not classified as 'wife' or 'spouse', she would not be entitled to be with the visiting President during banquets and other official engagements.
