BURLA: There was no sign of students at the VSS Medical here even as the hospital was reopened on Tuesday. The closure was declared and prohibitory orders were clamped after students locked the hospital over a brawl with town BJD president Sisir Dandia. The students are continuing their strike at Bhubaneswar over their demand for safety and unified campus of the hospital, college and hostels. They are demanding an assurance to that effect by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The letter directing for lifting of the sine die has also called for barring entry of Sisir Dandia and restriction on entry of anti-socials to the Medical campus, construction of police barricade and strengthening of policing on the campus. A meeting was convened by VSS Medical Principal Santosh Behera to discuss steps against recurrence of such incidents.
