Summer camp for street children

CHENNAI : Around 400 street children took part in a summer camp organised by the Asha Nivas Social Service Centre at  the Guindy Children’s Park on Thursday.   These street children were brought together by Asha Nivas from various parts in the city.The idea behind conducting the camp was to instill a sense of confidence in these children, who are deprived of their fundamental rights, enlighten them on basic child rights and encourage them to lead their life with self-confidence.Addressing the children, Lilly Josephine, Chief Communicative Development Officer, Asha Nivas said, “Self-confidence is very essential in every child’s life. A child who possesses self-confidence will definitely achieve the goal. Without self-confidence, the child cannot achieve success in life.”The children were kept engaged throughout the day with various activities like clay work, street play, songs and making charts. The best performers were awarded special prizes. After lunch, they were taken around the Children’s Park.
