New Delhi: Security for Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other top leaders is under review after intelligence inputs that Pakistan-based militant outfits could target VIPs and vital installations.

On Wednesday, the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil chaired a meeting attended by National Security Advisor M K Narayanan, Home Secretary V K Duggal and heads of SPG and CRPF.

While no one was willing to comment on the 90-minute meet, sources privy to the discussions said the security of all persons protected by the elite SPG was reviewed.

Besides Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the SPG protects Sonia Gandhi, her children Rahul and Priyanka and former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee.

Intelligence reports have suggested that militants would carry out suicide attacks or indulge in kidnapping of VIPs or their kin, sources said.

The meeting is significant in light of the forthcoming Assembly Polls in Uttaranchal, Punjab, UP and Manipur, where Sonia Gandhi and other top leaders are expected to tour extensively.
