Bhopal: The family of the late Captain Devashish Sharma found some respite when the Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh visited their house and assured them that there would be a reinvestigation into the stolen medals case.

Earlier, Nirmala Devi Sharma, the mother, alleged that she was asked to pay a bribe to investigate the case and was also told by the police to drop the case altogether.

There had been a robbery at the their home and Captain Sharma's Kirti Chakra and Virata Chakra medals were also found missing after the incident, claimed the family.

"My son won't come back, at least return his honour," said Nirmala Devi Sharma, mother of Captain Sharma.

Soon after the story was flagged by CNN-News 18, the Madhya Pradesh Home Minister visited the family and assured them that all efforts will be made to get back the medals.

"The case will be reinvestigated and reopened," assured the Minister.

Also after the CNN-News18's intervention, Nirmala Devi Sharma has been invited to the war memorial programme to be inaugurated by Modi in the city on Friday.

Capatin sharma was deployed with the 26 Punjab Regiment and was only 25 years old when he was killed in Operation Rakshak against Pakistan in 1994.
