Marathi flick Navra Maza Navsacha 2 has gained widespread acclaim from the audience since its release last week. The film is now on its way to becoming a big Marathi hit expecting to set records at the box office. Here is a look at the film’s box-office run, so far.

Dubbed as a comedy film, Navra Maza Navsacha 2 had its theatrical release on September 20. The film opened to a tremendous response from the audience, collecting more than Rs 1 crore on its premiere. In the following days, the film only showed better performance in terms of collections. Now, according to the reports of the Sacnilk website, the film has surpassed the mark of Rs 10 crore at the box office.

On its first Monday, the release saw its biggest drop in collections since its premiere, which stood at Rs 1.2 crore, showing an estimated drop of 68 per cent. While on day 5, the film showed some recovery with a collection of Rs 1.2 crore, up by 11.67 per cent, as per Sacnilk report. Navra Maza Navsacha 2 collected more than Rs 10.59 crore at the box office.

The film was made under the direction of Sachin Pilgaonkar, who is also credited as its story and screenplay writer. The cast of the film includes Sachin Pilgaonkar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Hemal Ingle, Swapnil Joshi and Ashok Saraf among many others. It is produced by Sachin Pilgaonkar under the banner of Sushriya Chitra. For music, the makers roped in Jitendra Kulkarni and Raviraj Vijay Koltharkar. The cinematography is done by Parag Deshmukh and Nitin Bandekar and the editor is Faizal Mahadik. It is a sequel to the 2004 cult classic release Navra Maza Navsacha, which was also directed and produced by Sachin Pilgaonkar.

According to the reports, the first part is based on the Bollywood film Bombay To Goa, released in 1972. It starred names like Amitabh Bachchan, Aruna Irani and Shatrughan Sinha as the protagonists.
