BANGALORE: The state government based on the orders of the Cauvery Riots Relief Authority will distribute cheques worth `3,33,900 on April 28 among the twenty-four victims whose properties were damaged during the Cauvery riots more than 20 years ago.Express had on December 23 reported that the state government had decided to  compensate the victims. Owing to the efforts of president of Kannada-Tamil Harmony & Social Welfare Trust N Ramachandran and his trust leaders, the state government prepared the cheques for all the 24 victims. The victims lived in H D Kote, Nanjangud and Hunsur taluks in Mysore during the attack. Now, they reside in Tamil Nadu. Speaking to Express, Ramachandran said, “The cheques are ready for distribution. On April 27, the victims will be present before the tahsildars of Nanjangud, H D Kote and Hunsur along with their ID proofs, which will be verified, after local witness confirms that the victims belonged to the area during the riot.”Later, on April 28 the cheques will be distributed by MLA V Srinivasa Prasad, in the presence of Mysore District Commissioner P S Vastrad.Ramachandran further said that the Home Department has also sought clarification on the relief amount sanctioned to the victims of Bangalore Urban, Chamrajnagar, Mysore and Mandya districts. “As per the record, there are about 500 victims, who were residents of the mentioned area and they have not been provided the relief yet,” he added.
