New Delhi: The Delhi Airport saw unruly scenes on Tuesday evening after a scuffle broke out between angry passengers and Air India officials and CISF personnel.
This is after a Delhi-Patna Air India flight, which was supposed to take off at 6 pm was postponed for 5 hours and finally cancelled at 11 pm. The passengers alleged that they were given a written assurance that their flight would take off at 10.45 pm but it was eventually cancelled.
The stranded passengers also accused the CISF personnel of misbehaviour. The flight finally took off on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, protests also broke out at Mumbai airport by angry passengers who had just landed from Delhi. Passengers complained they had to suffer because of the scuffle at Delhi airport.
Many said they were held back by CRPF jawans and not allowed to enter the airport due to the scuffle between Air India officials and the airline's passengers whose flight to Patna was first postponed and finally cancelled.
Due to repair work at the Patna Airport, flights to and from Patna were affected too. Passengers of a Jet Airways flight to Mumbai said that fellow passengers of an Air India Delhi-Patna flight had disrupted operations.
Despite the presence of CISF personnel, the Air India passengers blocked the gates and demanded that their flights allowed to take off first.
