Srinagar: The National Investigative Agency court in Jammu on Tuesday remanded Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Naved alias Usman Khan to 14 days NIA custody. The Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist was earlier jointly grilled by the NIA and the Jammu and Kashmir police.
Usman Khan was arrested by the Indian forces after a brief gunbattle in Udhampur on August 5.
Usman, along with his accomplice Momin, attacked a Border Security Force convoy killing two personnel and injuring eight others in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur on Wednesday morning. While Momin was killed in the gunbattle, Usman fled into the forests after taking three hostages. He was soon surrounded by a team of BSF and Army soldiers and a brief gunbattle followed. He was overpowered by his hostages and captured.
The interrogation of Usman has revealed that the target of his attacks was Amarnath Yatra. He speaks Urdu and Punjabi.
Intelligence sources said Usman had infiltrated into India along with at least four other LeT terrorists. After entering India, the group split into two. While three terrorists attacked Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, the other two including Usman were waiting to strike at another location.
